In layman's term a resistor slows down the flow of current through an electrical medium e.g. copper wire. It presents resistance to flow of current. A cap or capacitor is an electronic component that temporarily store electrical energy in a dielectric field. A bridge rectifier transforms AC (alternating current) to DC (direct current).
