Describe a difficult patient and how you handled it.

I had a patient who was very anxious and frequently upset, often refusing medications and becoming verbally frustrated with staff. My goal was to ensure the patient received appropriate care while also maintaining a calm and safe environment. I took extra time to sit with the patient, actively listen to their concerns, and acknowledge their feelings instead of rushing the interaction. I learned that their anxiety came from not understanding their treatment and feeling a loss of control. I then explained their care plan in simple terms, involved them in small decisions when possible, and maintained consistent communication. I also collaborated with the team to ensure we approached the patient consistently.
