General incompetence by decision maker
Anonymous
The three stages of the interview were professionally handled. However, after the final round the incompetence of Sotheby's began to show. They gave several deadlines by which I would hear if I had been successful, and missed every single one of them. After 12 days they then had the gall to ask me back for a fourth extra interview in two week's time, despite confirming that the interview process was over and that they were making their decision. I was repeatedly assured I was their top choice and that they wanted to keep me engaged and did not want to lose me to another firm. Odd, seeing as they did nothing whatsoever to keep me engaged, and did in-fact do many things to push me away. The decision maker in this process is totally incompetent and could not make up his mind. After they asked me to wait a further two weeks before even attending this extra fourth interview I withdrew my application. They had used up all my goodwill and I did not wish to work for so unprofessional an organisation. If they treated me this poorly as a candidate, how poorly would they treat me as an employee? I do not reccomend working for Sotheby;s
