How do you handle conflict with employees in the workplace

I try to avoid any conflict and I’m easy to get along with. If anything arises I immediately try to find a solution with that person. If I can’t I will ask HR to step in. I’m here to work - not make friends. If I make a couple on my way great - if not that’s great too.
