I've been fortunate to work with really quality people throughout my career, a lot of whom have become personal friends. That said, I did have a particular challenge with one coworker due our very different styles of communication. I took the initiative to speak directly with him on how we can work better together. I noted the many positive contributions he's made in his role and illustrated my goal of working cohesively and productively together toward a unified goal. We highlighted the positives in each other's styles and agreed to focus on those when we interacted going forward. I checked in with him about a month later to make sure he had a positive comfort level with our communications. I checked in again for several months after. We were able to make small adjustments to suit each other's communication needs and continue working in a positive and effective manner.
