I would not frame it as making people work harder. I would focus on getting the plant working better. That means setting clear expectations, removing barriers, making KPIs visible, supporting supervisors, training where needed and holding people accountable when standards are not being met. In my experience, productivity improves when people understand the target, have the tools to hit it and know leadership is following up consistently.
