I would approach the student after class having already noticing student having difficulty grasping the material and private and offer my assistance and reiterating the material and simplest forms. Hoping this would be efficient enough would allow the student to feel more comfortable in approaching me next time we're raising her hands while in lecture or in lab and reassuring a student that there is no such thing as a stupid question
