Some people get upset about joining the union, but after 10 years, I can say that depending on the management working at the store, the union can be the ONLY thing which will keep you employed through bad management. Bad managers will try to stop you from calling in when sick, delay your pay raises, cut hours out of your paycheck, sexually harass employees, try to stop you from taking vacations, give your hours to new employees they are friends with, try to write you up for little to no reason, and can even go so far as to try and pin blame on you for things that happened when you weren't even at work. It's all a matter of having good management, but rain or shine, the union has your back and fights tooth and nail to stop these behaviors. Also, stay sober at this job. If you are injured at work, the first thing they will do is a drug test. If you fail the drug test, you are to be denied your injury claim and terminated from the position.
