I was unprepared for this since I assumed this was going to be totally background info and kind of like a preliminary "culture fit" conversation. Kind of panicked and said I would like to stay in the range I was at with my last role as a general manager of a restaurant. It was noted as a big reason why I was not considered future, which I understand, but there was huge room for negotiation on that number on my end. So be prepared to talk salary right out of the gate!
