Here's how it went for me: 1. They reach out to you to apply after having already seen your experience and credentials. 2. You spend a little under an hour-ish on the phone. 3. They ask you to take significant time to prepare for your STAR style interview, which you do, because they've talked up how cool the role is, how great a candidate they think you are, and all those corporate values. 4. You have to take off from your current job last-minute because this is going to be pretty much the majority of your day in interviews and the interview schedule isn't that flexible. 5. You meet with 6 team members in standard STAR style interviews. Everyone is very nice. They tell you what great answers you have to their questions. You can tell they don't really like the STAR format, so they're trying to kind of ask questions around it. 6. You wrap up and cool down because it's a pretty exhausting process, even if some of the questions themselves are more odd/repetitive than difficult. 7. You wait a few days to hear something. 8. You get an automated form rejection letter. No reason why, no detail or explanation at all, nada. Seriously, after all that, you think they'd at least owe their candidates something other than a generic "thanks but no thanks" email sent from an automated system. And for me at least, I didn't even apply until after they reached out to me. It was their idea to waste this much time in the first place. You would think some sort of basic explanation could help inform people instead of just frustrate. They talk all about these "Tall" values they live and work by. But from where I'm standing, you could stack all 5 "Talls" on top of each other and they still don't amount to much.
