I will start by saying that everyone I spoke with at Purina was lovely, so that’s a plus. If you make it past the initial phone interview, you will be asked to give 3 straight hours of your time during a workday to meet with several different employees/team members. This scheduling can be very challenging to work out if you are currently employed and working full-time. I would have personally preferred to break up those interviews into 2 separate days, providing an hour of my time in each meeting. 2 hours total is plenty, 3 is excessive. Ultimately, I was not given an offer for the position, which is completely fine. I’ve been rejected for jobs before, and I will be rejected for jobs again in the future––that’s life. That being said, perhaps the most disappointing part of the entire interview process was that I received an automated HR email telling me that I didn’t get the position. I don’t care how big your company is, if any human being gives you 3 hours of their time (and more for that matter if counting the initial phone interviews), they deserve a more thorough and personable explanation. I even took the extra step of reaching out to my recruiter asking for said explanation, but that attempt was unfortunately ignored. Sadly, this kind of robotic corporate behavior would detour me from ever applying at Purina again.
