The point of this question is to observe how you break down a large but managable problem. Ask for a whiteboard or some paper and begin decomposing the system. Create a thorough outline with requirements and then drill down and discuss similar requirements for a subsystem that you have expertise in. The point is not to check if you're an expert in everything but rather to see if you understand the process of engineering/development when abstracted from a particular expertise.
