I admit I got a little personal about this one, took it as a chance to explain a gap of employment in my resume. However, I think this is a great opportunity to let the manager know of any interests you have that would show them you can sell their products. I have some background in art and even as what was essentially a "backroom" associate, I had plenty of oppertunities to give creative suggestions to customers and help them find the right products for their needs. Helping customers is really everyone's responsibility at hobby lobby, so showing them you have skills in those areas will help you.
