4 rounds back-to-back. It was a very theoretical experience, not at all practical (apart from 1 interview round). They were literally asking me basic theory questions (like tell me the exception that's thrown when an integer value goes out of bounds).

The interview process consisted of multiple stages. It began with an initial recruiter screening call to assess background, interest in the role, and basic fit. This was followed by a technical phone screen that included algorithm and data structure problems (similar to LeetCode medium/hard level) and questions about system design or past project experience. If successful, the next step was a virtual or onsite interview loop, which included 3–5 rounds focused on coding, system design, and behavioral questions. Some interviews included live coding on a collaborative editor and questions related to low-level programming concepts, performance optimization, and Tesla-specific engineering challenges. Interviewers also evaluated problem-solving ability, coding efficiency, and communication. Overall, the process was rigorous, with a strong focus on both technical skill and alignment with Tesla's fast-paced, high-impact work culture.
