I told him my background, and the core ideas that motivate me. It was an informal, but thorough interview. I felt like we both got to know each other professionally, and that we both had a good understanding of what each of us was looking for. I haven't gotten an offer or yet, but they're still reviewing my coding challenge submission. So it's neither yes nor no at this point.
