Type & save is the usual. If you have 2 people, then the 2 might overwrite each other since they'll have different copies of the same file after they edit. Git solves that by comparing the copies against each other before saving. Git thus lets a group work together without anyone overwriting each other. It also lets everyone see who's saving what.
