Refer frequently to resume, and never specify a rate - Always ask for the preset range - there IS one. If the recruiter won't provide it, they are conducting a salary survey, not actually hiring. Ask for a specific benefit (e.g. 401K) to learn whether the company is a good employer. Detailed answers will tell you yes, delaying tactics suggest not.
