Role Summary

K&M Concrete is hiring a field-first Field Layout Trainer to teach and support crews using robotic total stations (UTS). This role is not primarily a one-person layout position—success is measured by how well you train others, improve consistency, and keep production moving through calm troubleshooting and best-practice coaching.

Primary Responsibilities (Training + Support)

• Teach field crews total station best practices: setup routines, daily checks, layout workflow, verification habits, and jobsite standards.
• Provide on-site coaching to foremen and crew members so they can run layout independently and consistently.
• Troubleshoot total station/layout issues (workflow problems, control confusion, accuracy concerns) to reduce downtime and rework.
• Establish and maintain jobsite control: set/verify control points, reference points, and benchmarks; ensure protection and accuracy.
• Coordinate with Superintendents/Foremen/PMs to ensure crews have what they need to execute layout correctly and on time.

Secondary Responsibilities (As Needed)

• Assist with basic data/file organization and consistent field deliverables to support layout workflows (simple standards, not a BIM office role).
• Support spot checks for horizontal/vertical control and layout verification when needed.

Required Qualifications

• 2-year degree in Land Surveying (or closely related field)
• 2–5 years of field experience using robotic total stations
• Strong understanding of jobsite control, benchmarks, layout verification, and practical field accuracy habits
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with field crews
• Enjoys teaching—patient, clear, and able to coach without creating friction
• Driver’s license (Must have an insurable driving record)

Pay: $31.24 - $45.30 per hour
