Job Title: Program Coordinator - Apprenticeship
*This position will serve the following regions: Panhandle, Alamo Star, and Gulf Coast*
Retirees of the Texas Teachers Retirement System (TRS) may apply. Consistent with district policy SD-7.17 “Employment of Retirees,” selected applicants are responsible for reimbursing the district, through payroll deduction, for the current rate of all TRS pension or TRS Care surcharges. As of September 1, 2025, the TRS pension surcharge rate is 16.5% and the TRS Care surcharge is $535/month.
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Pay Group: A15 Salary Plan
Primary Purpose: Implement and provide support and training for Workforce, Apprenticeship and On-the-Job programs located within Windham School District and work collaboratively with WSD stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Experience:
Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE).
Major course work in Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
Two years of full-time, wage earning experience in education, workforce development, apprenticeship, industry, administration of federal and/or state work-based training programs, or related field.
Each year of experience in excess of the required two years may be substituted for thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis.
This position requires personal technology that will enable the completion of job duties and responsibilities when working remotely.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of contemporary job training practices and programs including vocational training, apprenticeship or on-the-job training programs.
Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
2. Provide guidance regarding work-based training programs to supervisors, instructors, and administrative staff.
3. Evaluate and audit program practices, training methods, instructional practices and operation procedures.
4. Collaborate with other agencies such as TDCJ.
5. Support work-based training programs and meaningful employment for students.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.
Policy, reports, and Law:
7. Coordinate with WSD divisions of operations and instruction to provide, process, and analyze data on special programs, on-the-job training programs and apprenticeship programs in order to report, measure, and improve effectiveness.
8. Develop and deliver professional training for staff throughout the district.
9. Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information received in the performance of the job duties.
10. Perform duties in a professional manner through daily, punctual attendance at location of work assignment.
11. Follow Windham School District policies and procedures in completing assigned job duties.
