Inspector / Logistics Coordinator

Position Summary

The Owner's Representative – Mechanical Inspector / Logistics Coordinator is responsible for

representing the project owner's interests during the construction of utility-scale solar

photovoltaic (PV) projects. This role ensures that all mechanical installation activities, material

deliveries, equipment handling, and logistics operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in

accordance with project specifications, contract requirements, quality standards, and schedule.

The successful candidate serves as the owner's on-site representative, working closely with EPC

contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, commissioning teams, and project management to ensure

high-quality construction and timely project completion.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Inspection

• Perform daily inspections of mechanical construction activities, including:

o PV module installation

o Tracker and fixed-tilt racking systems

o Torque verification and bolted connections

o Structural alignment and leveling

o Mechanical completion inspections

• Verify construction complies with:

o Project drawings

o Specifications

o Manufacturer installation requirements

o Applicable codes and standards

• Monitor contractor workmanship and identify deficiencies.
• Document non-conforming work and verify corrective actions.
• Participate in punch list development and closeout activities.
• Witness quality assurance inspections and testing.

Logistics Coordination

• Monitor delivery schedules for major equipment and materials.
• Coordinate receipt, inspection, storage, and inventory of:

o Solar modules

o Tracker components

o Structural steel

o Fasteners

o Balance of System (BOS) materials

• Verify shipping documentation and delivery quantities.
• Coordinate laydown yard organization and material distribution.
• Track damaged, missing, or defective materials.
• Support inventory reconciliation and reporting.
• Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to resolve delivery issues.

Owner Representation

• Serve as the owner's field representative during construction.
• Monitor contractor compliance with project schedules.
• Attend daily coordination meetings.
• Provide progress updates to project management.
• Identify project risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Review contractor work plans and installation sequencing.
• Ensure adherence to owner's quality expectations.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

• Prepare daily inspection reports.
• Maintain detailed photo documentation.
• Track quality issues and corrective actions.
• Verify inspection records are complete and accurate.
• Review as-built documentation.
• Support turnover package preparation.
• Assist with mechanical completion documentation.

Safety Oversight

• Promote a strong safety culture.
• Observe contractor compliance with OSHA and site safety requirements.
• Report unsafe conditions immediately.
• Participate in safety meetings and field audits.
• Ensure proper material handling and lifting practices.

Coordination

• Interface with:

o EPC Contractor

o Civil Inspectors

o Electrical Inspectors

o Commissioning Team

o QA/QC Personnel

o Project Management

o Equipment Suppliers

• Coordinate inspection activities to minimize construction delays.
• Support project commissioning and final turnover.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related

field preferred.

• construction inspection experience.
• Experience supporting utility-scale solar, renewable energy, or heavy industrial projects.
• Experience with tracker systems and solar racking installation.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control practices.
• Experience with material logistics and inventory management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction reporting software.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Utility-scale solar construction experience.
• OSHA 10/30 certification.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Experience with Procore, Arcgis or similar construction management software.
• Knowledge of commissioning and project closeout processes.
• Familiarity with mechanical torque requirements and structural tolerances.

• Frequent walking across large construction sites.
• Ability to climb ladders and access elevated work areas.
• Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Work Environment

• Full-time field position located at utility-scale solar construction sites.
• Extended travel may be required.
• Work schedule may include weekends and overtime during critical project phases.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) required at all times on site

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
