**Position Overview:**
You will be responsible for preparing high-quality histological samples from embryonic, fetal, placental, and adult tissues. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on laboratory work, takes pride in producing exceptional tissue sections, and can operate independently with minimal supervision.
You will work closely with developmental biologists and imaging scientists to generate the histological datasets underlying key research programs.
**Key Responsibilities:**
Primary Task: Tissue Processing & Sectioning
- Process mammalian tissues for paraffin and cryosectioning.
- Embed tissues and prepare high-quality blocks.
- Perform microtomy and cryostat sectioning.
- Optimize sectioning protocols for challenging embryonic and developmental tissues.
- Maintain sample tracking and organization.
Secondary Tasks: Histological Staining
- Perform routine histological stains including H&E and special stains.
- Execute immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) workflows.
- Optimize antibody staining conditions and imaging quality.
- Assist with multiplex staining workflows when required.
Secondary Tasks: Imaging & Documentation
- Capture and organize microscopy images.
- Maintain detailed records of tissue processing and staining procedures.
- Assist with image annotation and quality control.
**Qualifications:**
- Associate's, Bachelor's, or equivalent training in Histotechnology, Biology, Pathology, or related field.
- 2+ years of hands-on histology experience.
- Experience with paraffin embedding, microtomy, and cryosectioning.
- Experience performing H&E staining independently.
- Familiarity with immunohistochemistry and/or immunofluorescence.
- Strong attention to detail and sample handling practices.
- Ability to work independently and reliably.
**Work Schedule**
- Part-time position: [10–20 hours per weekday, flexible scheduling].
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
- Opportunity to transition into additional responsibilities or hours as research expands.
