Graduate School USA is seeking an experienced federal audit practitioner — a GAO or Inspector General (OIG) auditor, performance or financial statement auditor, program evaluator, internal control and compliance specialist, forensic or fraud examiner, IT auditor, or audit supervisor (typically GS-13/14 and above, or equivalent agency, DoD, or uniformed-service experience) — ready to build and lead our Federal Audit curriculum full-time.

You've planned and led audits under GAGAS, developed and defended findings, briefed agency leadership, and mentored junior auditors — and now you want to turn that experience into training that reaches auditors government-wide. In this full-time role, you'll teach live courses, record self-paced content, and drive the ongoing development of GSUSA's Federal Audit curriculum, delivered through our Government Audit Training Institute (GATI®).

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Facilitation

• Deliver engaging and effective federal audit training sessions in both in-person and virtual environments.
• Provide instruction across GATI® curriculum areas when assigned instructors are unavailable.
• Apply adult learning principles and proven classroom management techniques to enhance learner engagement and support successful outcomes.

Curriculum Development & Instructional Design

• Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) in the development of new federal audit course content and course improvements across one or more GATI® curriculum tracks — Audit Methodology & Standards, Performance Auditing & Evaluation, Financial Auditing & Compliance, Internal Control & Risk Management, Forensic Auditing & Fraud Investigation, IT & Cybersecurity Audit, Data Analytics & Audit Techniques, Audit Communication & Reporting, and Audit Management & Leadership.
• Identify and recommend content improvements based on student evaluations, instructor feedback, GAGAS/OMB/CIGIE policy changes, and instructional experience.
• Develop and record self-paced OnDemand courses, keeping content current as standards and guidance evolve.
• Collaborate with instructional designers to align materials with best practices in adult education.

Training Evaluation & Impact Measurement

• Assess training effectiveness using surveys, assessments, and performance metrics.
• Analyze feedback to improve course delivery and ensure alignment with organizational goals and federal audit requirements.

Professional Support & Client Engagement

• Respond to student and client inquiries requiring federal audit subject-matter expertise.
• Customize training programs to meet agency-specific needs and conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps.

Peer Support & Mentorship

• Facilitate instructor roundtables to share best practices and teaching methodologies.
• Mentor new instructors and support their onboarding into GSUSA instructional standards.
• Provide guidance and support to instructors across the Federal Audit curriculum.

LMS Management & Instructional Innovation

• Manage course setup and content updates in the Learning Management System (LMS) and monitor learner progress.
• Collaborate with curriculum and operations teams to enhance delivery methods and explore new instructional formats.

Student Feedback & OnDemand Grading

• Provide timely, constructive feedback and grade assignments for students enrolled in OnDemand courses.

Compliance & Accreditation

• Ensure training content and delivery meet accreditation standards and federal audit compliance requirements, including GAGAS (Yellow Book) and GAO Green Book internal control standards.

Logistics & Coordination

• Coordinate logistics for training sessions, including scheduling, materials preparation, and venue setup.
• Work closely with operations to ensure smooth execution of programs.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum 7 years of hands-on federal audit experience — in performance auditing, financial statement or financial-related auditing, internal control and compliance, forensic or fraud auditing, IT auditing, or a related federal audit specialty — gained within a federal agency, an Office of Inspector General, the Government Accountability Office, the uniformed services, or in direct, sustained support of federal audit clients.
• Demonstrated expertise in one or more federal audit disciplines (e.g., performance auditing, financial auditing, internal control, forensic/fraud auditing, IT auditing).
• Experience developing or contributing to audit training curriculum or instructional materials.
• Demonstrated experience leading, training, briefing, advising, or mentoring professionals — for example, supervising audit teams, briefing agency leadership, or conducting on-the-job or staff training.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex material clearly to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency with virtual training platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WebEx).
• Bachelor's degree or higher.

Note: experience in state, municipal, nonprofit, K-12/higher education, or general corporate auditing does not substitute for federal audit experience.

Preferred

• A government audit or accounting credential, such as Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
• Familiarity with GAGAS (Yellow Book), GAO Green Book internal control standards, and current OMB/CIGIE guidance.
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
• Prior instructional or facilitation experience in a federal training environment.
• Experience with curriculum design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, or similar).

Compensation & Total Rewards

Compensation & Total Rewards GSUSA offers a competitive, market-based total rewards program. Compensation is based on skills and experience, with an annual salary range of $85,000 to $110,000. Individual compensation is determined by relevant experience, skills, geographic location, and level of role. This range is subject to change. All GSUSA employees are eligible to participate in our 401(k) retirement plan, administered through Empower. Employees are automatically enrolled at a 5% pre-tax contribution rate and may change their contribution rate or opt out at any time. Full-time staff are eligible for health benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, along with paid time off covering vacation, sick, and holiday pay in accordance with applicable state and local law.
