Job Description
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and hands-on Maintenance Technician to support maintenance operations in our food manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for executing preventive maintenance, responding to work orders, troubleshooting equipment issues, and maintaining a safe and efficient production environment.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, organized, and proactive in identifying and addressing maintenance needs to support equipment reliability, food safety, and operational uptime.
Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment Repair & Troubleshooting
· Diagnose and repair mechanical systems including conveyors, fillers, cappers, sealers, mixers, and kettles.
· Assist with basic electrical troubleshooting under guidance when needed.
· Support installation and setup of new or relocated equipment.
· Coordinate with outside technicians or contractors when required.
2. Preventive Maintenance
· Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance on production, packaging, warehouse, and utility equipment.
· Follow preventive maintenance schedules and document all completed tasks.
· Inspect equipment regularly to identify wear, damage, or potential failures.
· Replace or repair components such as belts, bearings, seals, motors, and sensors.
· Support equipment changeovers and setup as needed.
· Work closely with Production, Warehouse and Sanitation teams to ensure proper equipment readiness.
3. Work Order Management
· Respond promptly to maintenance work orders and service requests.
· Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues to minimize downtime.
· Accurately document work performed, parts used, and time spent in the work order system.
· Communicate equipment issues and repair status clearly to supervisors and production staff.
· Ensure all work orders are completed safely and in a timely manner.
4. Safety, GMP & Compliance
· Follow all safety policies, GMPs, and company SOPs.
· Maintain clean and organized maintenance areas.
· Ensure tools and parts are stored properly.
· Support food safety and sanitation requirements when performing maintenance.
· Report any safety or food safety concerns immediately.
Requirements & Qualifications
· High school diploma or technical/trade school certification preferred.
· 3+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or food production preferred.
· Strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems—including pneumatics and hydraulics—with practical experience troubleshooting and supporting liquid bottling lines (fillers, cappers, sealers, labelers, conveyors), dry-blender mixers, form-seal fillers, batch kettle cookers, and related food manufacturing equipment.
· Forklift certification with at least 2 years of forklift operation experience.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills; Spanish language skills are a plus.
· Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
· Ability to identify and implement process improvements independently.
· Knowledge of sanitation processes and equipment cleaning standards.
· Physical ability to lift 50–60 lbs multiple times daily and remain on feet for the full shift.
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods.
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
Pay: $31.25 - $36.00 per hour
