About the Role
Suzano is expanding its operations in the U.S. and is seeking an experienced Process Manager – Evaporator & Re covery to join our team in Pine Bluff, Arkansas .
This role is re sponsible for technical process leadership and continuous improvement across Evaporator & Re covery a re as, including steam and power generation, energy re covery, chemical re covery , and water t re atment. The Process Manager partners closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensu re stable, efficient, safe, and environmentally compliant processes that support overall mill performance.
The ideal candidate combines strong process engineering expertise with a collaborative, people-cente re d mindset and a passion for operational excellence.
What You’ re Going to Do
Process Ownership & Technical Leadership
Act as the process owner for Evaporator & Re covery systems, including re covery boilers, power boilers, steam turbines, evaporators, and water t re atment.
Ensu re processes a re operated within defined standards, targets, and best practices.
Support optimization of steam, power, and chemical re covery to meet mill demands while maximizing efficiency and re covery rates.
Serve as the primary technical re source for troubleshooting complex process issues.
Safety, Environmental & Re gulatory Support
Champion safe process design and operation, embedding safety into daily activities and standard operating procedu re s.
Support compliance with environmental, health, and safety re gulations (EPA, OSHA, and local re qui re ments).
Analyze process conditions and incidents to proactively identify and mitigate safety or environmental risks.
Partner with EHS teams on audits, investigations, and cor re ctive actions.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
Monitor process KPIs and operating data to identify gaps, losses, and improvement opportunities.
Lead root cause analyses for process deviations, equipment upsets, and re liability issues.
Develop and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, re liability, cost performance, and sustainability.
Support capital projects, startups, shutdowns, and turnarounds from a process design and optimization perspective.
Collaboration & Capability Building
Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and Automation teams to drive aligned solutions.
Provide technical coaching and mentoring to operators, engineers, and supervisors.
Support training content, operating philosophies, and standard work for Power & Re covery a re as.
Promote knowledge sharing and adoption of best practices across the organization.
What We Expect from You
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s deg re e in Chemical Engineering , Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering , or a re lated field.
E xperience in utilities or Evaporator & Re covery operations, p re ferably within the pulp & paper or heavy manufacturing industry.
Demonstrated experience in process optimization, troubleshooting, and performance improvement in industrial systems.
Skills & Competencies
Strong technical understanding of recovery boilers, power boilers, steam turbines, evaporators, and energy systems.
Solid analytical skills with the ability to interp re t data and translate insights into actionable improvements.
Knowledge of environmental and safety re gulations re lated to industrial utilities .
Effective communication skills with the ability to influence without di re ct authority.
Continuous improvement mindset with experience applying structu re d problem-solving tools.
Leadership experience – this individual will be managing a team of 11-14 team members.
