Role Overview

This role owns the full intern lifecycle for the Washington, D.C. Network Office — building the campus brand presence, sourcing and selecting intern candidates, and then driving the productivity, training, and conversion of contracted interns into full-time financial representatives. The Director of Campus Recruiting & Development operates with direction from the Managing Partner and senior leadership and is the primary point of accountability for intern contract and conversion results.

Responsibilities:

Sourcing & Campus Brand

• Build and maintain long-term relationships with career services, professors, department heads, athletics, and student organizations on targeted DC/Maryland/Virginia-area campuses.
• Actively participate in campus clubs and organizations to promote Northwestern Mutual's internship program.
• Coordinate advertising and marketing strategies: career services website, online job postings (LinkedIn, Indeed, Handshake), direct mail, and community events.
• Identify and partner with Campus relationships & student organizations that yield strong results; recommend sponsorships where appropriate.

Selection

• Review resumes, assign ideal candidate profiles, and conduct initial interviews.
• Administer assessments and guide candidates through each step of the selection process.
• Execute a Post-Acceptance Process to set contracted interns up for early success.
• Report weekly recruiting activity and analyze ratios to identify and address inefficiencies.

Training & Development

• Develop and execute pre-training and formal training programs for all internship cohorts.
• Create and facilitate a structured accountability schedule: mentor meetings, activity coaching, end-of-semester capstones, performance improvement plans, and weekly development meetings.
• Collaborate with district intern leadership teams to track onboarding progress and pre-training engagement.
• Serve as subject matter expert on internship pay incentive criteria and factfinder uploads.

Conversion

• Oversee the Coaching-to-Conversion (C2C) strategy and manage conversion candidate inventory.
• Collaborate with leadership across the network and district offices to drive the conversion process.
• Facilitate 180-90-60 Day C2C meetings and track candidate graduation timing.

Leadership Development

• Identify and develop high-potential interns, alongside the senior leadership team for future CUD/TC/CUC potential.
• Facilitate CUD skill development in partnership with Network Office; manage the leadership pipeline.
• Facilitate regular intern leadership team meetings; meet monthly with Managing Partner to review program progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• 2–4 years of professional experience in recruiting, sales, talent development, or a related field
• Experience in financial services a plus
• Proficiency with sourcing platforms: LinkedIn, Indeed, and Handshake
• Strong existing campus relationships and referral network
• Demonstrated ability to work professionally across all levels of an organization
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to groups

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
