Position Summary
The Senior CAD Designer is responsible for designing complex orthodontic appliances using advanced digital design software while consistently delivering exceptional quality, precision, and efficiency. This role requires a deep understanding of orthodontic treatment concepts, dental anatomy, and digital workflows to transform doctor prescriptions and digital records into accurate, clinically sound appliance designs.
As a key member of the digital design team, the Senior CAD Designer works independently to manage a diverse portfolio of cases, applying sound judgement and technical expertise to solve complex design challenges. Success in this role requires the ability to analyze digital modes, CBCT scans, and clinical information, identify potential issues, and produce designs that meet both clinical expectations and the Company’s quality standards.

Essential Responsibilities
Digital Orthodontic Design
- Design complex orthodontic appliances using advanced digital design software
- Interpret doctor prescriptions, digital models, CBCT scans, and supporting clinical information to produce accurate appliance designs
- Gain proficiency in orthodontic biomechanics, dental anatomy, and appliance function through on-the-job training and apply these principles throughout the design process
- Evaluate scans and case information to identify missing information, potential concerns, or design limitations
- Ensure every design meets company quality standards prior to release
Production Performance
- Consistently produce accurate, high-quality designs while maintaining established productivity expectations
- Manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting turnaround time commitments
- Maintain focus and attention to detail in a fast-paced production environment
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities and production demands
- Take ownership of assigned cases from receipt through completion
Professional Excellence
- Demonstrate sound judgment when working through complex or unique clinical situations
- Maintain proficiency with new software features, workflows, and digital technologies
- Follow established design standards and documented workflows
- Communicate effectively with internal departments when clarification or collaboration is needed
Qualifications
- Minimum three years of orthodontic CAD design experience
- Advanced proficiency with 3Shape Designer
- Strong understanding of orthodontic appliance design and digital workflows
- Knowledge of orthodontic treatment concepts, dental anatomy, and appliance biomechanics
- Demonstrated ability to complete complex digital designs accurately and efficiently
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
