AccessBridge connects qualified American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters with mission-driven human services organizations. This assignment supports a community-based provider (Daily Living Skills) that serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), helping them live meaningful, self-directed lives in their communities. The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled ASL interpreter for a recurring weekly assignment. You will facilitate clear, accurate, and respectful communication between a Deaf or hard of hearing individual and their support team during community-based activities and daily interactions. This is a chance to use your ASL skills consistently and see the direct impact of your work.

Position Details

• Classification: Independent contractor (1099). This is not an employee position.
• Schedule: Every Wednesday, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
• Pay: Interpreters are paid on the 6th and the 21st of each month via direct deposit.
• Parking fees will be refunded
• Location: Community-based assignment.

What You'll Do

• Interpret accurately between ASL and spoken English during the scheduled sessions.
• Support communication during community access activities, such as errands, social outings, recreational activities, and appointments.
• Convey information faithfully and maintain neutrality, following the National Association of the Deaf and Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (NAD-RID) Code of Professional Conduct.
• Coordinate with the client's support team to ensure smooth, person-centered communication.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

What We're Looking For

• Fluency in American Sign Language with strong interpreting skills. Open to both hearing and Deaf or hard of hearing candidates.
• Professional interpreting experience
• Good judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to stay calm, patient, and professional in a variety of situations.
• Reliability in meeting commitments, including transportation and schedule needs.
• A passion for supporting individuals with I/DD and a commitment to person-centered communication.

Job Type: Freelance

Pay: $60.00 - $75.00 per hour
