We are seeking a highly skilled Captive Reinsurance Accountant with a minimum of five years of solid senior‑level accounting experience to join our finance team. CORE COMPETENCIES:

• Maintain and reconcile reinsurance accounts, including ceded and assumed reinsurance activity
• Prepare and analyze reinsurance financial statements in accordance with GAAP, statutory accounting principles, and regulatory requirements
• Process reinsurance settlements, premium adjustments, commissions, and loss recoveries
• Review and validate reinsurance contract terms to ensure accurate financial treatment and reporting
• Perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Monitor and reconcile Schedule F and other statutory reporting components related to reinsurance
• Collaborate with underwriting, claims, and finance teams to ensure proper documentation and contract compliance
• Assist with internal and external audits, providing supporting schedules and responding to inquiries
• Maintain accurate records of reinsurance treaties, facultative placements, and related financial transactions
• Support the preparation of management reports, financial packages, and reinsurance analytics
• Identify process improvements and contribute to strengthening internal controls within the reinsurance accounting function

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3–5+ years of experience in insurance or reinsurance accounting
• Strong understanding of GAAP, statutory accounting, and reinsurance principles
• Experience with reinsurance systems or accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, Clearwater, Workday, Sage, MS Dynamics)
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial analysis
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
• Ability to interpret reinsurance contracts and apply appropriate accounting treatment
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The target base salary range for this position is $105k - $125k annually. The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
