JOB TITLE:

Coffee Shop Manager

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE:

The mission statement of Jews for Jesus is: “We relentlessly pursue God’s plan for the salvation of the Jewish people.” The Manager must be a self-starter who is able to carry out responsibilities independently. The job requires strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with staff, coworkers, visitors, vendors, etc. The ability to manage details, multitask and prioritize needs within a high stress environment is vital. A heart for the mission of Jews for Jesus is essential. Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

General Management

• Oversee coffee shop operations and general maintenance to ensure Moshava is incompliance with pertinent NY DOH regulations and city permits.
• Follow updates of NY laws and requirements, and implementation of new policies.
• Assuring excellence of coffee program, customer service and quality control.
• Manage Moshava email inbox and correspondence, and emailing director updates.
• Helping manage social media and web presence.
• Financial management.
• Send financial updates and prep for budget reports to Director.
• Meet with vendors and suppliers.
• Inventory: keeping inventory stock, update management team and/or placing orders.
• General upkeep of facilities.
• Follow-up and communication with technicians and building management as needed.
• In-house food/baked goods scheduling and prep.

Barista Staff

• Supervision of Moshava Coffee staff.
• Ensure the values of the mission are being perpetuated through coffee service.
• Staff scheduling, shift coverage,scheduling staff training days and events.
• Approval of hours in ADP in accordance with schedule.
• Actively participate in the hiring process.
• Onboarding new staff and staff training updates as required.
• Upholding a healthy team culture..
• Preparing barista meeting agendas and scheduling meetings.

Ministry, Moshava Coffee Identity

• Be prepared to explain the purpose of Moshava Coffee and the nuances of Jewish faith in Jesus.
• Be prepared to minister and share the gospel and receive information to pass on to Moshava Director/missionary staff for follow up.
• Eventbrite posting, creating updates, input in wingman, and other documentation as required.
• Flyer/poster updates.
• Artwork displays.
• Attend weekly staff meetings.
• Participate in ministry events as scheduled.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

• Supervisory responsibilities with barista staff.
• Ensure all guidelines and requirements are met.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Routine use of computers, phones, and copiers.
• Required to run errands.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Walking, standing and use of stairs.
• Ability to work long days during special events.
• Regular lifting: up to 30 lbs.
• Occasional lifting: up to 50 lbs.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

• Full time, Non-exempt. This is an in-person position.
• Hours will vary according to schedule.
• Will work Saturdays when open and during special events.
• Some evening work will be required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

• NY State Food Handler license.
• 1-2 years of management experience within coffee industry or food establishment,including management of staff.
• Full knowledge of barista work and prior experience– 1 year minimum.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
