Job Description
This is a hybrid position located in the Washington DC area and is a client facing role requiring rapport development. As a Lean Six Sigma specialist, you will provide support to a federal agency in streamlining its operational processes through the use of process modeling, analysis, Lean Six Sigma and reengineering techniques, and provide ongoing support to efficiency related projects and activities across the organization.
The ideal candidate will have experience with federal government grant making and/or procurement processes along with experience in Power BI use and capabilities. Also a demonstrated ability to analyze information from multiple sources and develop effective policies, SOPs, job aids, and other guidance document types. Will serve as the primary content developer and writer for the team. Must have familiarity with scientific research terminology and human subject's research.
Job Responsibilities
- Support building a common understanding of business current processes among appropriate stakeholders.
- Document current processes utilizing process maps, process narratives, or other approaches, as applicable.
- Support enabling stakeholders to identify, using Lean Six Sigma and other analysis techniques, opportunities to optimize or otherwise re-engineer the processes including measurable metrics for improvement.
- Support defining target processes that meet stakeholder improvement goals (e.g., “to-be” processes). Document “to-be” processes utilizing process maps, process narratives, and other approaches, as applicable.
- Support developing implementation plans that include change management and communication strategies for re-engineered / to-be processes, as applicable.
- Provide ongoing client support around enhancing organizational processes via the participation in relevant meetings and discussions associated with organizational functions, processes, activities, etc.
- Provide other client support, as tasked.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Mimimum of 3 years experience with process improvement
- Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt required
- Experience with Kaizen event organization, scheduling, logistics, etc.
- Leading / Facilitating Client teams / projects
- Experience understanding business process goals, systems, data, people requirements, and identifying opportunities for improvements across all aspects individually and collectively.
- Demonstrated experience drafting and editing federal agency guidance documents (policies, SOPs, job aids, fact sheets, or similar)
- Direct Experience with Federal government agencies and process improvment.
- Direct experience understanding stakeholder and customer requirements, and how to improve processes to best address those expectations.
- Familiarity with NIH or HHS operational structures preferred.
- Experience organizing and managing Lean Six Sigma / process improvement projects.
- Direct experience with developing process models in MS Visio.

- Experience with effective communciations organization wide.

- Able to work individually or in groups to identify customer challenges, determine strategies for meeting those strategies, developing processes implementing those strategies, and supporting to-be process adoption across an enterprise.

Additional information
Preferred candidates will be located within the Washington DC, Maryland, Northern Virginia (DMV) area. Travel to customer sites may be required, clients are in the DMV area. Travel to customer sites is not reimbursed for hybrid employees.
