About [Computer Science] Innovate at SV[e]F
Silicon Valley Education Foundation (SV[e]F) partners with school districts across the Bay Area to deliver [Computer Science] Innovate ([CS]I), a summer program that introduces rising 4th–10th grade students to
computer science, coding, and design-thinking through hands-on, project-based learning. Our mission is to advance equitable STEM education that inspires and prepares students for college and careers.
Position Overview
Support classroom teachers in delivering engaging, project-based computer science instruction. TAs mentor students, assist with coding projects, provide technical support, and help create a positive inclusive learning environment. This role is ideal for students interested in computer science, teaching, STEM, or youth mentorship. This is a temporary summer position.
LOCATION & WORK SCHEDULE
25+ sites throughout the Greater Bay Area, with many in East San Jose.
Assignments are based on your location. Program length may vary slightly depending on the assigned site.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Support project-based computer science instruction in 1–3 classrooms.
Assist students with block-based coding, problem-solving, and hands-on projects.
Serve as a positive role model and encourage student engagement and collaboration.
Reinforce classroom norms and support productive group discussions.
Provide basic IT and tech tool support for students and teachers.
Assist with program logistics such as attendance, materials, and transitions.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE OF
High school senior, currently enrolled college student, or recent graduate.
Interest in computer science, education, STEM, or youth development.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Classroom, tutoring, or computer science experience is preferred but not required.
TB test & fingerprinting for new hires (costs reimbursed).
COMPENSATION
Elementary and Middle School Programs: $2,552 total (19 class days + 3 training days)
High School Extended Hour Programs: $3,915 total (24 class days + 3 training days)
$50 referral bonus for any referral who completes the program
