Job Description

The Position:

Zinkerz is seeking an experienced instructor to serve as a 1:1 tutor and/or lecturer for an online AP Computer Science course. Students are receiving group classes during the week, and you will be their designated recitation tutor.

As a tutor, you will review materials provided by the Course Lecturer to guide students through the AP Computer Science A and AP Computer Science Principles curricula, helping them prepare for the Advanced Placement (AP) Test in May. While the Lecturer covers the material in group lessons, the Tutor will work with students individually to review concepts and ensure a deep understanding of the topics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct individual tutoring sessions.
• Review homework assignments.
• Document student progress with detailed class notes.
• Assist students with their Create Task Project in AP Computer Science Principles and guide them in submitting their project.

Tutors will receive:

• Comprehensive teaching materials, including homework assignments and exercises.
• Training in online teaching, including use of a collaborative whiteboard.

Classes typically run for one hour. Most are currently held in the afternoons and evenings on weekdays and throughout the day on weekends. Scheduling is flexible based on your availability. Classes only run during the school year, from September to May (with lecture classes beginning in August), so please note this position will begin in September 2026.

Teaching/Tutoring Experience

• At the high school level or college level.

Expertise in Computer Science

• with AP Computer Science A and AP Computer Science Principles, or general computer science knowledge including proficiency in the Java programming language

Additional Requirements

• A college graduate or currently pursuing a degree.
• Comfortable using technology.
• Outgoing, energetic, and responsible.
• Able to commit through the remainder of the academic year.
• Willing to offer 10 or more hours per week.
• Based in North America or South America to align with our students' timezones.
