The Product Engineer is responsible for the design and release of custom products that are similar to existing designs. This position provides technical support for sales and production for both pre-sale and post-sale opportunities. Working in a fast-paced environment, the Product Engineer must provide timely and accurate technical information to customers while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, production, supply chain, product management and quality. The position provides technical guidance and mentorship to designers, overseas production drawing schedules, and ensures engineering deliverables are completed on time. The Product Engineer will engage directly with customers as needed to clarify requirements and resolve technical issues to ensure a successful project.

Essential

Functions

• Serve as the primary technical resource for assigned product lines, providing engineering support across the organization
• Design and release standard, configured, and custom products, including customer drawings, production drawings, and bill of materials
• Identify and implement value engineering opportunities to improve product performance, manufacturability, quality, and cost
• Provide technical support to sales teams by evaluating application requirements, recommending product solutions, developing custom concepts, generating cost estimates, and maintaining part number structures
• Partner with production teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues, resolve technical challenges, and support efficient product fabrication and assembly
• Investigate post-sale issues by performing root cause analysis and developing corrective actions and long-term solutions
• Lead and mentor designers by providing work direction, reviewing engineering deliverables, and supporting the development of their drafting and design skills
• Develop, maintain, and enhance product configurator design rules to improve accuracy, consistency, and efficiency in product selection and design

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 0-3+ years of experience in product design, mechanical design or manufacturing
• Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software, including part modeling, assemblies, and drawing creation
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while effectively managing multiple projects, balancing competing priorities and adapting to changing business needs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, manufacturing
