Duties

• Assist patients in selecting and fitting eyewear, including spectacle lenses and frames, ensuring optimal comfort and vision correction
• Dispense spectacles accurately by performing eyewear fittings, frame adjustments, and lens selections based on individual prescriptions, lifestyle needs, and vision insurance qualifications
• Operate POS systems and cash registers efficiently for retail sales transactions while maintaining accurate medical billing records
• Maintain clinical confidentiality policies and adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient information at all times
• Support laboratory processes by preparing eyewear for manufacturing, verifying lens prescriptions, and ensuring quality standards are met
• Provide excellent customer service by answering questions about optical products, explaining medical terminology clearly, and guiding patients through their vision care journey

Experience

• Prior retail optometry experience or optical laboratory experience is highly preferred but not necessary. We are willing to train the right candidate.
• Knowledge of ophthalmology practices, health regulation policies, and state healthcare regulations is essential and will be trained.
• Experience with spectacle lens dispensing, eyewear fittings, frame adjustments, and optical laboratory procedures is preferred.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex medical information effectively and strong computer skill are required.
• Basic math skills for handling retail transactions, insurance coding, and inventory management
• Experience working within clinical confidentiality policies, aseptic techniques, medical billing processes, and medical coding standards.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
