Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our team and build the data infrastructure that powers our environmental analysis. In this role, you will be instrumental in transforming complex environmental data into actionable insights, directly contributing to our mission of promoting healthier air standards for communities.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.
Collect, process, and clean large datasets from diverse sources, including air quality sensors, environmental reports, and client assessments.
Develop and manage data warehousing solutions to support advanced analytics and reporting.
Ensure data quality, integrity, and reliability across all our systems and platforms.
Collaborate with our team of environmental consultants and analysts to understand their data requirements and support their work.
Optimise data retrieval processes and query performance to improve efficiency.
Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering to continuously enhance our capabilities.
Qualifications
Proven experience working as a Data Engineer or in a similar data-focused role.
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is highly regarded.
Strong proficiency in SQL and extensive experience with relational databases.
Practical experience with ETL/ELT tools and data pipeline orchestration frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, Prefect).
Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python or Java.
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake).
Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a significant advantage.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
A genuine interest in environmental science or using data for social good would be a considerable asset.
