Facility Resource Partners is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join our team as an independent contractor supporting the development of three large scale data center projects in Texas and New Mexico.
This is an opportunity to work alongside an experienced program management team during the planning, design, and early execution phases of projects ranging from approximately 10 MW to 250 MW.
The position is primarily remote with limited travel required for key meetings, site visits, and project milestones.
Initial workload is expected to average more than 30 hours per week for approximately three to six months. Workload after that period will depend on project progression and construction activity, with the potential for continued involvement throughout the program.
Responsibilities
Support the Owner's Representative and Program Management team through all phases of project development, including:
- Coordinate design development from concept through issued for construction documents.
- Participate in project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and scope development.
- Review consultant and contractor deliverables for completeness and constructability.
- Assist with entitlement activities, permitting, and jurisdictional coordination.
- Support utility coordination and electrical infrastructure planning.
- Participate in meetings with owners, engineers, architects, contractors, utility providers, and project stakeholders.
- Monitor project schedules, risks, action items, and key milestones.
- Assist with procurement planning and long lead equipment tracking.
- Review project estimates, change requests, and budget impacts.
- Support construction planning, phasing, sequencing, and execution planning.
- Help identify project risks and develop practical solutions.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, meeting minutes, and action item logs.
Desired Experience
The ideal candidate has experience supporting or managing data center projects during development and early construction.
Experience should include several of the following areas:
- Data center planning and development.
- Site due diligence.
- Design management.
- Utility coordination.
- Electrical infrastructure and substation coordination.
- Medium and high voltage electrical systems.
- Utility interconnection and energization planning.
- Backup power systems, including generators, UPS systems, and Battery Energy Storage Systems.
- Mechanical systems including chilled water, direct expansion cooling, CRAH and CRAC systems.
- Fiber and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Critical equipment procurement and long lead equipment management.
- Permitting and entitlements.
- Construction budgeting and cost management.
- Scheduling and milestone management.
- Risk management.
- Contractor and consultant coordination.
- Commissioning planning and turnover.
- Owner's Representative or Agency Construction Management.
- Understanding of Tier standards and mission critical facility requirements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of commercial construction management experience.
- Previous experience supporting one or more mission critical or data center projects.
- Strong understanding of design, procurement, and construction processes.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Procore, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, and similar project management software.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a distributed project team.
Compensation
- Independent Contractor. 1099.
- $100 to $130 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Approximately 30 plus hours per week during the initial phase.
- Initial engagement of three to six months.

- Candidates with extensive hyperscale data center development experience or specialized expertise in utility infrastructure, high voltage power, or mission critical MEP systems are encouraged to apply. Compensation above the stated range may be considered for exceptional qualifications.

Preference will be given to candidates located in the Central or Mountain Time Zones.
Limited travel to project sites in Texas and New Mexico will be required.
