Job Summary:

This position requires a compassionate, patient individual who understands that many of our clients may be navigating mental health challenges and who interacts with every client in a warm, professional, and respectful manner. The Medical Biller will handle all aspects of insurance verification, claims submission, payment processing, and aging claims management, while maintaining a high standard of compliance with healthcare regulations. Additionally, this role supports therapists with payroll-related tasks and assists with office reception duties to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Claim submission, including second insurance
• Applies client and insurance payments (payment allocation) and reconciles claims and accounts
• Reviews aging claims under direction of the COO/Assistant Practice Manager, and works on getting aging claims paid
• Executes payment plans and communicates with clients regarding outstanding balances
• Making contact with clients regarding past due balances
• Maintains relationships and communication with insurance provider representatives
• Manages rejected and denied claims, follows agency policy in claim corrections and resubmissions
• Maintains up to date information and participates in ongoing training regarding Medical Billing
• Calculate payroll for therapists in accordance to client billing hours
• Payroll review for clawbacks and corrections
• Answer therapist questions about payroll numbers
• Coordinate with HR regarding payroll matters
• Answers the phone at the Northlight office and answers questions or directs phone calls and messages
• Greets clients upon arrival and answers client questions regarding scheduling, therapist availability, office procedures, HIPAA compliance
• Collect payments from clients
• Daily Insurance verification, for new and existing clients
• Creates and maintains patients' electronic health records
• Records and updates demographic and financial information
• Maintains client data with OHA (MOTS).
• When needed, schedules or reschedules and coordinates patient appointments to optimize client satisfaction and facility efficiency
• When needed, onboarding new clients
• Word processing, filing, information research, shredding, faxing, keeping reception HIPAA compliant, and completing any and all clerical functions
• Attend ongoing training and courses to keep up to date on new developments in health care, health insurance, and medical billing
• Comply with organizational guidelines and health care laws and regulations
• Assist in keeping the office organized and running smoothly
• Maintain total confidentiality of personal and financial data
• Directs clients to their destination throughout establishment

Qualifications:

• Education: Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field (preferred).
• Experience: 1 year of experience in medical billing, finance, accounting, or a related field preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current certification in a relevant discipline (Medical Biller) is preferred but not required.
• Skills:
• Experience in billing, accounting or finance
• Knowledge of medical billing practices and codes
• Proficiency in billing software and healthcare regulations

Working Conditions:

• Monday-Friday (Daytime Hours)
• May travel to different locations minimally (Locations: Eugene, Albany, Salem)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
