Position Title: Network Planning Engineer (Technician – DCS / Legacy Network Migration)

Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Network Planning Engineer (Technician – DCS / Legacy Network Migration) to support the planning, migration, and decommissioning of legacy transport and circuit-switched telecom networks. This is not a traditional network planning role. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with legacy transport technologies and carrier network environments, including central offices, transport engineering, network operations, and circuit planning.
Key Qualifications
- Experience with legacy transport networks including DCS, SONET, SDH, DWDM, TDM, and OTN
- Background in transport network engineering, circuit planning, or network migration projects
- Experience supporting carrier central office environments or Network Operations Centers (NOC)
- Hands-on experience with legacy platforms such as Titan 5500, Lucent DACS III/IV, DCS II, Alcatel 1630/1631, Cisco ONS 15454, Nortel TN Series, Marconi SMA, Ciena 6500, ADVA FSP, or Infinera DTNX
- Knowledge of circuit types including DS0, T1, DS3, OC3, SS7, 911, Voice, and IP Transport
- Experience using telecom systems and tools such as TIRKS, Remedy, TL1, PuTTY, and network inventory databases
- Ability to support overnight maintenance windows (10:00 PM–6:00 AM local time) when required
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, analyze, migrate, and decommission legacy transport and circuit-switched networks
- Perform circuit audits, grooming, testing, and logical cross-connect activities
- Develop and execute Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for migration projects
- Coordinate migration activities with NOC, engineering, and operations teams
- Support inventory validation, data cleansing, and telecom database updates
- Execute service migrations and network decommissioning activities
- Participate in maintenance windows to support migration and network cutovers
- Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with operational procedures
