Position Summary
The Phone Attendant / To-Go Cashier is responsible for providing friendly, accurate, and efficient service to guests placing orders by telephone, online, or in person at the Ah Beetz to-go station.
This position serves as an important point of contact between the guest, kitchen, delivery drivers, third-party delivery services, and restaurant management. The Phone Person / To-Go Cashier must enter orders accurately, process payments properly, verify every completed order, package food according to Ah Beetz standards, and ensure guests and delivery drivers receive the correct orders promptly.
The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, detail-oriented, comfortable using restaurant technology, and able to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Telephone Order Responsibilities
- Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally.
- Use the approved Ah Beetz telephone greeting.
- Speak clearly, courteously, and confidently with every guest.
- Accurately enter telephone orders into the point-of-sale system.
- Confirm the guest’s name, telephone number, order type, and pickup or delivery instructions.
- Verify the correct restaurant location when necessary.
- Repeat the complete order back to the guest before completing the transaction.
- Confirm quantities, sizes, toppings, special instructions, sauces, beverages, and additional items.
- Provide guests with an accurate estimated pickup or delivery time.
- Place guests on hold politely when necessary and return to the call promptly.
- Ask a manager for assistance with complaints, allergy concerns, unusual requests, large orders, or pricing questions.
- Never promise discounts, refunds, credits, substitutions, or delivery times without authorization.
Order Entry and Accuracy
To-Go Station Responsibilities
- Organize and maintain the takeout and delivery station throughout the shift.
- Monitor incoming orders from the telephone, website, restaurant application, and third-party delivery platforms.
- Coordinate with the kitchen regarding order timing, missing items, modifications, and guest requests.
- Match completed food to the correct receipt or order ticket.
- Inspect each order for accuracy before packaging and releasing it.
- Confirm that every order includes the correct pizzas, entrées, sides, salads, desserts, beverages, sauces, dressings, utensils, napkins, and condiments.
- Package hot and cold items appropriately to protect food quality.
- Label bags, boxes, beverages, and special-order items when required.
- Secure and seal delivery orders according to company procedures.
- Keep completed orders organized by guest name, order number, or delivery platform.
- Prevent orders from being given to the wrong guest or delivery driver.
- Notify guests or delivery drivers when orders are ready.
- Escalate delayed, incomplete, incorrect, or missing orders to the manager on duty.
Cashier and Payment Responsibilities
- Process cash, credit card, gift card, mobile, and other approved forms of payment accurately.
- Confirm the correct order before accepting payment.
- Provide accurate receipts and change.
- Follow all cash-handling and point-of-sale procedures.
- Maintain control of the assigned cash drawer.
- Never share point-of-sale login credentials or cash-drawer access.
- Never remove cash from the register except according to company procedures.
- Report cash shortages, overages, voids, declined payments, and transaction errors immediately.
- Obtain management approval for refunds, discounts, voids, credits, and price adjustments.
- Complete opening, shift-change, and closing cash procedures as assigned.
- Follow company procedures for counterfeit bills and suspicious transactions.
- Protect credit card and guest payment information at all times.
Online and Third-Party Delivery Orders
- Monitor orders received through the Ah Beetz website, online ordering system, and approved third-party delivery platforms.
- Confirm that each online order has been successfully received by the kitchen.
- Review orders for special instructions, delivery notes, allergies, or unusual requests.
- Coordinate with delivery drivers and third-party couriers professionally.
- Confirm the driver’s name, platform, guest name, or order number before releasing an order.
- Never release an order without verifying that the correct driver or guest is receiving it.
- Report duplicate orders, canceled orders, missing drivers, excessive delays, or system problems to management.
- Maintain an organized pickup area to prevent driver congestion and order confusion.
- Avoid marking an order complete until it has been verified and properly packaged.
Guest Service
- Welcome and acknowledge guests entering the takeout area.
- Provide friendly and attentive service throughout every interaction.
- Answer basic questions regarding the menu, pricing, available toppings, promotions, pickup procedures, and estimated preparation times.
- Suggest appropriate add-on items such as beverages, appetizers, desserts, sauces, and additional toppings.
- Thank each guest for choosing Ah Beetz.
- Respond professionally to guest questions and concerns.
- Listen carefully to complaints without arguing or placing blame.
- Immediately involve a manager when a guest requests a refund, replacement, credit, or formal complaint resolution.
- Never discuss internal restaurant problems, employees, or confidential company matters with guests or delivery drivers.
Communication and Teamwork
- Communicate clearly with kitchen employees, managers, servers, delivery drivers, and other cashiers.
- Inform the kitchen promptly about order changes, allergies, large orders, and special requests.
- Notify management when order volume increases or quoted preparation times need to be adjusted.
- Assist team members during high-volume periods.
- Maintain a calm and respectful attitude under pressure.
- Follow all instructions provided by the manager on duty.
- Participate in pre-shift meetings, training sessions, and restaurant communications.
- Support the overall cleanliness, hospitality, and efficiency of the restaurant.
To-Go Station Setup and Stocking
- Set up the to-go station before service.
Pay: $15.00 per hour
