About this Role
We are seeking a detail‑oriented and proactive Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator to support construction projects and environmental initiatives across multiple sites. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; promotes safe work practices; and supports environmental stewardship throughout project planning and execution. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on field experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily site inspections to verify compliance with safety plans, OSHA standards, and company policies.
- Support Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), toolbox talks, and pre‑task planning with field teams.
- Monitor high‑risk activities (excavation, confined space, heavy equipment, electrical work, lifting operations) and ensure proper controls are in place.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare reports and follow‑up corrective actions.
- Assist project managers and supervisors in implementing safety procedures and maintaining a strong safety culture.
Environmental Compliance & Project Support
- Support environmental permitting, reporting, and documentation for construction and remediation projects.
- Conduct environmental inspections related to erosion control, stormwater management, waste handling, air emissions, and spill prevention.
- Maintain environmental logs, manifests, and regulatory documentation.
- Coordinate sampling activities, monitoring programs, and contractor compliance for environmental projects.
- Assist in implementing environmental management plans and ensuring adherence to EPA, EQB, and other regulatory requirements.
Training, Communication & Documentation
- Deliver safety orientations and environmental awareness training for employees and subcontractors.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, training, and regulatory documentation.
- Communicate findings, risks, and recommendations to project managers, construction supervisors, and senior leadership.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in safety and environmental performance.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- 2–5 years of experience in construction safety, environmental compliance, or EHS coordination.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA/EQB requirements, and construction industry best practices.
- Experience with environmental projects such as remediation, sampling, stormwater management, or waste handling.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with field personnel, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to travel to project sites and work in outdoor environments.
Preferred Certifications
- OSHA 30 Construction
- CPR/First Aid
- HAZWOPER 40
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), CHST, or other relevant credentials (a plus)
