About Us
We are a premier structural steel fabrication and construction firm dedicated to delivering world-class engineering solutions for complex, high-profile projects. We pride ourselves on engineering excellence, seamless project management, and a collaborative environment where our team members can thrive and build lasting careers.
Role Summary
As a Senior Project Engineer, you will serve as the critical technical link between project design and physical fabrication. You will manage structural steel detailers on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that all projects are executed in strict accordance with contract documents, quality standards, and master schedules. This role requires an analytical mind, robust technical knowledge of steel fabrication, and excellent communication skills to coordinate between general contractors, design teams, and internal fabrication crews.
Key Responsibilities1. Detailing Management & Coordination
- Manage structural steel detailers daily to ensure timely, contract-compliant project deliverables.
- Participate actively in Project Kick-off and Turnover meetings between Sales and Operations.
- Facilitate pre-detailing meetings with the structural steel detailer within one week of the sales turnover.
- Verify and guarantee that structural steel detailers always have the most current design drawings, specifications, and agreed-upon sequencing plans.
- Coordinate structural steel design issues directly with General Contractors, Design Teams, and Detailers; proactively propose and advocate for engineering solutions.
2. Schedule & Submittal Management
- Develop comprehensive structural steel submittal and shop release milestone schedules within the central scheduling system, aligning with the project sequencing set by the Project Manager.
- Maintain and update critical milestone dates daily (OFA dates, submittal return dates, and shop release for fabrication dates) in the scheduling database.
- Ensure detailers receive and understand schedules that support customer and project requirements.
- Assemble structural product data, shop certifications, welder certifications, welding procedures, and shop drawing packages marked "FOR APPROVAL" for submission to the General Contractor and Design Team.
- Transmit all submittals and "FIELD USE" erection plans electronically via Tekla EPM (Fabsuite).
- Process and transmit "FOR FABRICATION" shop drawings to document control within 24 hours of receipt, ensuring all appropriate gather sheets, CNC, and KSS files are included.
3. RFI Tracking, Quality Assurance & Materials Control
- Assemble and track structural RFIs within Tekla EPM (Fabsuite).
- Monitor RFI turnaround times; notify customers when responses are delinquent or insufficient, and escalate critical issues to the Project Manager to mitigate schedule risks.
- Review structural steel shop drawings, product data, and erection plans rigorously for contract compliance.
- Apply appropriate digital stamps (such as Bluebeam and red date stamps) to "FIELD USE" drawings before releasing them to the field.
- Track and order field bolts through the Materials Department, keeping the Project Manager updated on delivery timelines.
- Proactively identify design changes that may impact project costs or schedules; immediately alert the Project Manager so that appropriate Change Orders and customer notices can be issued.
4. Field & Shop Support
- Resolve shop- and field-related detailing issues in a timely, collaborative manner.
- Provide ongoing technical and engineering support to the Project Management team when detailing or engineering challenges arise on-site or in the fabrication shop.
