ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Afterschool Facilitator is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment for scholars in the after-school program. This role involves active participation in daily planning, direct supervision of scholars, delivery of academic and enrichment activities, and collaboration with staff to ensure a positive and productive experience for all participants. Other duties and responsibilities are:

• Assure participants are properly supervised at all times.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of participants.
• Be a role model to participants and staff in your attitude and behavior.
• Be aware of and implement safety guidelines.
• Assist participants as needed with daily living skills.
• Accompany participants to main program areas and ensure supervision of their participation in planned and free play activities.
• Participate enthusiastically in activities, planning and leading as assigned.
• Use appropriate behavior management techniques as needed.
• Communicate and interact effectively with fellow staff members, administrative staff and participants, regardless of ability, race, creed, national origin, sexual identification or gender.
• Abide by all program, policies and procedures. Assist with driving the van for school pickups, home drop offs, and/or field trips.
• Complete and submit all paperwork as required within designated time frames.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Must be willing to submit to a background check BEFORE starting.

• Should have 1-3 years direct service experience with marginalized populations including work with children of color in impoverished communities.
• Must be dedicated to advancing an agenda of equal rights and social justice for marginalized individuals, especially through participation in academics and the arts.
• Must have strong interpersonal and team building skills, excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability and willingness to be hands-on and creatively solve problems as they arise.
• Proficiency with MS Office (including Word, Excel and Outlook), relational databases, and use of the Internet required.
• Recommended NOT required. Must have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record and be able to drive a van (commercial license not necessary).

ADDITIONAL NOTES

The person hired for this position must be willing to work one Saturday per month (when necessary).

This position is Part-Time during the school year. Programming will begin on September 8th 2026 and end on May 21st 2027. Hours are 2:00pm - 6:00pm (Regular), 12:00pm - 6:00pm (Early Release days), and 8:00am-6:00pm (Full program days).Note: Van Drivers may be required to start shifts up to 1 hour earlier.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
