A successful Claims Manager this role is a proactive problem solver with extensive experience in claims management. They excel in overseeing claim resolution strategies, communicating effectively with key accounts, and accurately forecasting experience modification factors. This specialist is adept at managing claims processes, promoting return-to-work initiatives, and advocating for positive outcomes for clients. They serve as a trusted consultant, tailor strategies to individual client needs, and ensure meticulous documentation and adherence to procedures throughout the claims lifecycle. Their dedication and expertise contribute significantly to the efficiency and success of claims management within the organization.
Job Responsibilities:
· Communicate effectively with clients, medical providers, TPA, and involved parties regarding claim matters
· Improve the risk profile of large commercial clients regarding claim matters
· Coordinate and oversee claims management strategies on reserving, settlement, and closure to bring claims to resolution
· Follow procedures to enhance timeliness of TPA processes and reduce claim costs
· Perform monthly loss run scrubs, offering recommendations to mitigate exposure
· Provide periodic claims reporting and dashboard management for department leadership and clients
· Collaborate with the Risk Control team to provide claims reporting and data analysis, helping identify loss trends and develop strategies to reduce risk exposure for commercial clients.
· Ability to work with and forecast experience modification factors. Closing claims, filing aggravated inequity, if necessary
· Coordinate and attend on-site claim reviews
· Problem solve and create individual strategies for key clients based upon their needs
· Provides effective and timely communication status reports to clients, Account Executive, and the servicing team, keeping everyone informed
· Review policy details to ensure adequate coverage and deductible utilization
· Design custom claims training content for client education
· Participate in presentations with stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Minimum 5 years of experience in managing work comp claims, preferably with a multi-state experience
· Knowledge of the entire claims administration process, case management and cost containment solution as applicable to Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Property, and Auto.
· Candidates must be eligible to acquire and maintain a state adjuster’s license
· Insurance industry training and designations preferred (AINS, CAWC, CIC)
· Possession of a valid state driver's license
· Work irregular hours and respond to emergencies on a 24/day basis to service customers
· Some overnight and out of state travel will be required

Additional Skills:
· The location of the role will be in person in our Grand Rapids/Ada, Michigan office
· Hours for the role is as follows: 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday – Thursday, 8:00am – 4:30pm Friday (Memorial Day through Labor Day we close at 4:00pm on Friday)
