Overview:

Tokyo Kuma, is seeking an experienced retail store manager with 2-3+ years of experience to drive the operations in our high-volume Japanese lifestyle store. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented candidate with a strong background in fast-paced retail management and the beauty/lifestyle industry, particularly Japanese cosmetics, skincare, beauty trends, collectibles, and specialty merchandise. You will be responsible for inventory management, P&L performance and leading a diverse team to deliver a premium shopping experience.

Duties:

Store Operations Management

• Oversee daily operations of the Tokyo Kuma store to ensure efficiency, consistency, and operational excellence.
• Ensure all stores maintain company standards for cleanliness, organization, merchandising, customer experience, and safety.
• Monitor store performance and implement operational improvements where needed.
• Understand and uphold the Tokyo Kuma brand identity, mission, and customer experience.

Inventory Management

• Manage store product assortment, inventory levels, and merchandising strategies across locations.
• Maintain strong knowledge of Japanese cosmetics, skincare, beauty products, and current market trends.
• Stay informed about competitor brands, pricing, industry trends, and emerging beauty products.
• Coordinate inventory planning, replenishment, and stock transfers to maximize sales and minimize shrinkage or overstock.
• Work closely with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely product availability.

Sales & Marketing

• Develop and implement strategies to maximize sales and profitability.
• Analyze sales performance, customer trends, and product movement to identify growth opportunities.
• Drive promotional campaigns, seasonal launches, and customer engagement initiatives.
• Ensure store consistently achieves sales goals and KPI targets.

Customer Experience

• Ensure exceptional customer service and maintain a welcoming shopping environment.
• Handle customer-concerns professionally and effectively.
• Train and coach store teams on product knowledge, customer engagement, and service standards.

Staff Management

• Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate store staff, ensuring they have the product knowledge and customer service skills needed to succeed.
• Schedule staff shifts to ensure adequate coverage during peak times while managing labor costs.
• Foster a positive, accountable, and performance-driven work culture.

Financial Management

• Prepare and review financial reports, including daily sales reports, expenses, and profits to meet financial objectives.
• Manage budgeting, pricing, and cash-handling processes to ensure financial efficiency and accuracy.

Compliance & Legality

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations affecting retail store operations.

Qualifications

• 2-3+ years of experience in retail management and beauty/lifestyle retail preferred.
• Strong understanding of retail operations, merchandising, inventory management, and sales strategy.
• Experience in conducting interviews and hiring processes.
• Ability to analyze sales data and make strategic business decisions.
• Strong knowledge of Japanese cosmetics, skincare, beauty trends, blind box collectibles, and specialty retail products highly preferred.
• Mandarin-speaking preferred.
