POSITION TITLE: Manufacturing Engineering Intern

REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager

LOCATION: Superior, WI

Superior Lidgerwood Mundy Corporation (SLM) is a looking for a bright and talented future engineer in pursuit of an engineering degree to join our team. SLM is a heavily diversified designer and manufacturer of goods servicing both the government and civilian markets. The engineering team at SLM conceptualizes, models, draws, and specifies heavy industrial winches, hoists, and deck machinery as well as supporting the manufacturing and testing processes. The same engineering staff provides daily support to SLM’s subsidiaries, Dutchess Bakers Machinery and M.T. Davidson pumps. The intern will work directly with experienced manufacturing engineers to develop proficient manufacturing support skills, valuable for a future career in engineering. This includes extensive exposure to the manufacturing processes associated with producing SLM's wide variety of products through machining, welding, coating, and testing.

COMPENSATION:

• $18.00 Per hour

WORK SCHEDULE:

• 10 - 20 Hours per week, flexible scheduling
• Employment opportunity to continue during school year

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

• In progress of Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or relevant field

PREFERRED CANDIDATE CHARACTERISTICS:

• Passionate for complex mechanical design and applications
• Familiarity with CAD modeling and SolidWorks
• Exposure to various industrial manufacturing processes
• Task orientated, self-motivating, and high attention to detail

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with the development and implementation of welding practices and certifications
• Facilitate drawing or fixture changes to improve efficiency and accuray of machining processes
• Produce and execute testing plans associated with factory acceptance testing of SLM products
• Develop resolutions for manufacturing deficiencies that arise throughout the production processes
• Other duties assigned by the Engineering Manager
