We are seeking a dependable and motivated Medical Assistant to join our clinical team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality care for our patients and community.
Position Overview
The Medical Assistant supports providers and clinical staff in delivering efficient, safe, and patient-focused care. This role combines direct patient interaction, clinical responsibilities, and operational support to ensure smooth daily clinic operations and a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Obtain and document vital signs and relevant patient information.
- Prepare patients for provider examinations and assist during procedures.
- Perform specimen collection, basic laboratory testing, immunizations, and injections within scope of practice.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Contribute to accurate ICD-10 diagnosis and CPT procedure coding by ensuring patient visit documentation is complete, detailed, and consistent with the services provided during the encounter.
Patient Care & Coordination
- Greet and communicate with patients in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner.
- Support medication refill requests, follow-up communication, and coordination of care.
- Promote efficient patient flow and assist in maintaining an organized clinic schedule.
Office & Operational Support
- Ensure patient information is always handled with the highest level of confidentiality and full HIPAA compliance.
- Maintain organized, accurate clinical documentation and records to support safe and efficient patient care.
- Contribute to smooth daily clinic operations by supporting provider workflow, patient readiness, and overall care coordination.
Other Duties
- Prepare patient charts before visits and ensure records, medications, labs, and required documents are accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Maintain clear and precise documentation in the electronic medical record with strong attention to detail.
- Room patients, obtain vital signs, complete required screenings, and review medications following provider guidelines.
- Perform routine clinical tasks such as blood draws, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, injections, and proper handling and disposal of specimens.
- Assist with immunizations, sterilization processes, exam room stocking, and keeping clinical areas ready for daily patient care.
- Manage phone calls, patient messages, refill requests, scheduling support, and follow-up communication in a timely and courteous manner.
- Help coordinate lab and diagnostic orders, prior authorizations, and ongoing patient care needs as directed by providers.
- Support the team with additional clinical or administrative responsibilities as needed to maintain efficient clinic operations and continuity of care.
Qualifications
Accepted Credentials
We welcome candidates with any of the following:
- MA – Medical Assistant
- CMA – Certified Medical Assistant
- RMA – Registered Medical Assistant
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required; certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR systems and basic clinical procedures is strongly preferred.
- Experience in a primary care or outpatient setting is helpful; however, we value a candidate who is positive, cooperative, dependable, and committed to compassionate patient care and teamwork.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time, in-person role in a private primary care practice.
- Four-day workweek (Monday–Thursday) with a consistent three-day weekend.
- Daytime schedule with no evenings or weekends.
