Position Summary

The City of Chesterfield is hiring a Senior Engineering Construction Inspector to join the Engineering Division of the APWA Accredited Department of Public Works. The successful candidate will provide construction and site inspections of residential, commercial, and capital development projects to ensure work is performed in conformance with plans, specifications, and City requirements.

The candidate will perform regular site inspections of public infrastructure, grading activities, and sediment and erosion control practices for compliance with City requirements, permits, and approved plans. The candidate will conduct inspections of storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP), generate SWPPP inspection reports, and review SWPPP inspection reports for accuracy and compliance with the City’s Sediment and Erosion Control Manual. The candidate will assist on the snow / ice removal crew.

The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to be responsive to concerns and issues generated by contractors, engineers, and property owners. Sound independent judgment, consistency, and accountability are essential to being effective in this position.

Minimum Education, Certification and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in related field preferred. American Concrete Institute Level 1 Certification preferred - required within one year of employment. Five years related experience in construction, municipal Public Works, or engineering inspection required. Successful candidate must possess a valid vehicle operator’s license.

Rate of Pay and Benefits

Grade H4 - This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a starting rate of pay of $61,930 per year.
