The Dietary Supplement Formulation Scientist is responsible for research and development activities of numerous formulations for encapsulation, powder filling, and tableting applications.
Job Purpose: Lead and support in the research and product development process. Oversee product formulation and development functions; contribute with the formulation of the many natural products and in compliance with manufacturing criteria, quality standards, and cGMP procedures. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty. Essential job functions and duties include:
1. Lead and support in the research and product development process to meet or exceed market expectations and be consistent and in compliance with manufacturing criteria, quality standards, and cGMP procedures.
2. Oversee product formulation and development functions; contribute with the formulation of the many natural products by assuring fast troubleshooting and solving of difficult formulations all throughout the manufacturing process.
3. Work in the day-to-day trials of R&D laboratory and responsible for testing of formulations, filling out paperwork, and updating formulations.
4. Show creativity and innovation to come up with solutions to issues which may arise during the product development process.
5. Provide timely completion of projects.
6. Write reports on all investigations.
7. Use R&D laboratory equipment to analyze formulations and raw materials.
8. Set up experiments and review data.
9. Provide support to the QAQC Department, including the laboratory when needed.
10. Bring the Company’s R&D as up to date as per latest FDA audit/standards of the Nutraceutical industry and maintain the Company’s compliance as rules and regulations evolve.
11. Work in compliance with FDA, NSF, OSHA, CCOF and Eco Cert requirements as well as any other regulatory entities that come to audit and inspect by following the company’s SOPs and regulations.
12. Assist with audits on sight by supporting the quality team during the audit.
Education: minimum of Bachelor of Science degree or the equivalent in experience; Master of Science Degree is preferred, but not required.
Experience: Nutraceutical or Pharmaceutical Industry: 3 years (Preferred)
Likely Personality Profile:
1. Proficiency in applicable cGMP/QSR regulations.
2. Three or more years of post-educational working in a regulated environment, preferably at a Pharmaceutical/Biotech facility; knowledge of US quality-related biological/pharmaceutical/medical device regulations is a strong plus.

9. Able to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical documents.
10. Able to collect data, establish facts, analyze evidence, define problems, and draw valid conclusions.
11. Understanding/experience with a Lab/Plant start-up is an advantage.
12. Experience in ERP and EQA software, MS Office, and Adobe Acrobat.
13. Attention to detail.
14. Advanced research and reasoning skills.
15. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficient in English; proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
