We're looking for an experienced QA/QC Floor Inspector who naturally stays engaged, takes ownership, learns quickly, and takes pride in making sure every exchanger leaves our facility built correctly, inspected thoroughly, and documented completely.

Energy Exchanger Company has manufactured custom ASME Code shell and tube heat exchangers since 1974. Every unit that leaves our facility carries our name, and we are looking for an inspector who takes that responsibility personally.

This position requires someone who is equally effective on the production floor and at a computer. You must stay visible, anticipate inspection needs, coordinate required notifications, maintain accurate records, and follow every requirement through completion.

What You Will Do

• Perform in-process and final inspections of ASME Section VIII shell and tube heat exchangers.
• Verify compliance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, ASME Code requirements, TEMA standards, and company procedures.
• Proactively coordinate required hold points and witness points with Authorized Inspectors, customer source inspectors, Production, Engineering, and other internal departments.
• Prepare and issue timely inspection notifications so required inspectors are available without unnecessarily delaying production.
• Perform or evaluate VT, PT, MT, WFMT, RT, and UT activities within the scope of your qualifications.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, engineering documents, customer specifications, and applicable inspection requirements.
• Verify material identification, traceability, dimensions, fit-up, weld quality, and required markings throughout fabrication.
• Review weld maps, travelers, MTRs, NDE reports, inspection records, and supporting quality documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Complete computer-based & wet-ink inspection forms, logs, lists, spreadsheets, and other electronic quality records accurately and on time.
• Learn and consistently follow Energy Exchanger Company’s material identification, marking, traceability, inspection, and documentation systems.
• Communicate non-conformances and inspection concerns promptly, clearly, and professionally.
• Follow identified issues through resolution rather than assuming someone else will handle them.
• Help prevent quality problems before they reach the customer and identify practical opportunities to improve quality and consistency.

You also understand that paperwork is part of the product. An inspection is not complete until the documentation is accurate, required markings and traceability are verified, notifications have been issued, and the project can move forward with confidence.

You ask questions when you do not know something. You listen carefully, retain what you learn, and apply it correctly the next time. You want to improve your knowledge rather than rely only on what you did in a previous position.

You notice details, remain steady and even-tempered, and communicate without creating unnecessary conflict. You are willing to stop or question work when requirements are not met, but your goal is always to help the team solve the issue and build the product correctly.

You follow through consistently—even when no one is reminding you.

Required Qualifications

• At least 4 years of QA/QC floor inspection experience in ASME pressure vessel, shell and tube heat exchanger, or closely related heavy industrial fabrication.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating required inspections, hold points, and witness points with Authorized Inspectors and customer source inspectors.
• Working knowledge of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII Div 1, Section V, Section IX, Section I and National Boiler Code.
• Documented Level II (minimum) NDE qualifications or certifications under an employer Written Practice based on ASNT SNT-TC-1A, ANSI/ASNT CP-189, or another accepted qualification program, in applicable methods.

Practical knowledge and experience involving:

• Visual Testing (VT)
• Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
• Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
• Wet Fluorescent Magnetic Particle Testing (WFMT)
• Radiographic Testing or film interpretation (RT)
• Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, engineering prints, and customer specifications.
• Proficiency with computer-based forms, electronic records, lists, and spreadsheets, including Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organizational, written communication, and follow-through skills.
• Ability and willingness to work additional hours when project schedules, Authorized Inspector availability, customer witness inspections, or critical production requirements make it necessary.
• Must use iOS (iPhone).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience inspecting shell and tube heat exchangers
• Working knowledge of TEMA standards
• Experience preparing or reviewing Manufacturing Data Books
• Additional Level II NDE qualifications or certifications

Physical Demands

Frequent: Walking, standing, handling materials, reaching, talking, hearing, and crawling into metal cylinders.

Occasional: Climbing stairs, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 75 pounds.

Constant: Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Additional Requirements

This is a safety-sensitive position. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screening and satisfying all other applicable pre-employment requirements.
