Responsibilities

• Collaborate with software engineers, systems engineers, and customers to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Design and implement backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and the Spring ecosystem.
• Develop and maintain scalable, reliable software applications.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including geospatial capabilities using PostGIS.
• Develop and maintain asynchronous messaging workflows using RabbitMQ.
• Integrate external systems and data feeds through Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and other interface specifications.
• Participate in sprint planning, technical design discussions, peer code reviews, and Agile development activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, performance bottlenecks, reliability issues, and security vulnerabilities.
• Produce clear technical documentation and support knowledge transfer to customers and internal teams.
• Support software demonstrations, customer engagements, testing, and occasional field deployments.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
• 5–10 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong production experience developing applications using Java and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, etc.).
• Experience designing and administering PostgreSQL databases, including query optimization and PostGIS.
• Experience implementing message-driven architectures using RabbitMQ.
• Experience interpreting and implementing Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design and implementation.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum software development teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% in support of customer meetings, demonstrations, testing, and deployments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python for scripting, automation, or data processing.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Experience using Gradle for build automation.
• Familiarity with Cursor on Target (CoT) messaging standards.
• Experience integrating geospatial data, sensor systems, or operational command-and-control applications.
• Experience supporting Department of Defense, federal government, or defense contractor programs.
• Previous experience working directly with customers in a technical or solutions engineering role.
• Active U.S. Secret or Top Secret security clearance.

Pay: $105,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
